Masala Green Peas is a popular side dish from North India. Goes very well with roti, naan or chapathi.
Ingredients
1 cup frozen green peas
2-3 finely chopped green chillies
1 tsp ginger finely chopped
1 tsp Jeera (Cumin seeds)
1 tsp Garam masala
½ tsp Chilli powder (optional)
1 tsp Amchor powder (Mango powder)
½ tsp Kala Namak (Black salt)
Heengh (Asafoetida) – pinch
1 tsp Oil/Ghee
Salt
For serving – 1 cup Fresh curd (plain yogurt), ½ tsp chilli powder, 1 tsp roasted jeera, ½ tsp pepper and salt to taste.
Method
Cook frozen peas on stove with little water till soft. Heat a oil or ghee in a non-stick pan. Add ginger, green chilli, jeera, amchor, garam masala, chilli powder (optional), kala namak, heengh, salt and cook for about 3 minutes.
Beat curd and add salt. Put the peas in a flat serving dish and spread curd over. Sprinkle and garnish with roasted jeera, chilli powder and pepper. Goes well as a side dish with roti, naan or chapathi.
Note: Cooked peas should retain their shape.
