Apple chutney

Entice your taste buds with the wonderful flavours of sweet and tangy Apple Chatney.

2 Granny apples (peeled, cored and sliced)
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar or vinegar
2tbsp raisins
3 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp lime juice
½ tsp ginger grated
½ star anise
½ mustard seeds
½ tsp chilli flakes
curry leaves few
¼ cup water
1 tsp Oil
salt to taste


  • Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan. When shimmering, add mustard seeds, curry leaves and mix.
  • Add chopped apples, sugar, ginger, cinnamon stick, star anise, apple cider vinegar and water.
  • Cook on low with lid on till the sugar caramelises and apples soften for about 20-25 min stirring occasionally.
  • Add raisins, chilli flakes, lime juice and salt, mix well. Cook uncovered for 5 more minutes or until a thick chutney remains.
  • Remove from flame. Serve hot or chilled.
