Apple Strudel

Apple Strudel is a popular pastry in many of the European countries. This classic recipe is quite simple and easy.
Ingredients
1 sheet frozen puff pastry (thawed)
2 small to medium apple (peeled, cored, thinly sliced)
1tbsp raisins
1tbsp mixed nuts
1tbsp almond meal
1tbsp sesame seeds
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1tbsp strawberry jam
2tbsp sugar
½ tsp cinnamom
1 beaten egg/yolk or milk/cream

To serve- Ice cream, custard or thick cream

Method
Preheat oven to 190°C. Mix all the above ingredients in a bowl except the egg yolk and jam. Put the pastry sheet on a lightly floured non-stick baking paper. Apply jam in the middle of the pastry. Place apple mixture in the centre of the sheet leaving 2cm border around the edge. Now cover it with one side of the sheet. Apply egg yolk and from the apple-covered side carefully roll into a cylinder using the non-stick baking paper below.

Place, seam side down along with baking paper on the baking tray. Tuck the ends under the roll. Brush with remaining egg yolk. Create cuts on the top of the roll about 2cm-long and 2cm apart. Bake until golden and cooked through (40 minutes). Let it rest for 10 minutes, slice and dust with icing sugar.
Serve hot or warm with ice-cream, custard or thick cream.
