Minappapu Cabbage Vada

This delicious Indian snack/vada recipe is a combination of Urad dal, chopped cabbage and green chilli.

Ingredients
1 cup Minappapu (Split Black gram/Urad dal) with husk
1 cup shredded cabbage
2 tbsp rice flour
1tsp Jeera (cumin seeds)
2 green chilli (finely chopped)
½ inch ginger (finely chopped)
Podina (mint lvs) handful chopped
Curry leaves few
Cooking soda pinch
Salt

Minappapu Cabbage Vada
Wash dal (with skin) and soak it for 2-3 hours. Grind to a coarse paste with little water. Remove in a bowl. Add all the above ingredients to this bowl just before deep frying. The mixture should be fairly thick.

Heat oil for deep frying. With wet hands take a small portion of the mixture and flatten it (like a small pattie). Now carefully drop this into hot oil (medium flame) and fry till golden brown. Repeat the process with the remaining mixture. Serve hot with tomato sauce or tomato pickle.
