Dosakaya Drumsticks Pulusu is a famous recipe and a family favourite of Telugu speaking people in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana.
Ingredients:
1.Indian yellow Cucumber (dosakaya) chopped(Big pieces)
2.one stick Drumstick (cut into five pieces)
3.Two Onion chopped(small pieces)
4.Two Tomatoes(finely chopped)
5.Coriander leaves – for garnishing
6.Salt to taste
7.Red chilli powder – 1tbsp
8.Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
9. 1tsp of Tamarind pulp
Seasoning:
Two red chillies
1/2tsp of fenugreek seeds
½ tsp of mustard seeds
½ tsp of Cumin seeds
Curry leaves – two tbsp.
Hing – one pinch
Oil – Two tbsps
Method:
1.Take a pan pour two tbsp. of oil and heat it.
2. Add all the seasoning ingredients. Saute for 30 seconds
3.Add chopped onions, salt to taste, turmeric powder and chilli powder and let it cook till the onions turns light brown. Then add tomatoes and let it cook for two minutes. Add dosakaya and drumstick pieces and mix them thoroughly and cover the pan . After they are half cooked you can add two cups of water along with tamarind pulp
4. You can then empty the ingredients into a small pressure cooker and cook till one whistle and switch it off
5. This allows the pieces of Dosakaya and drumstick to cook properly and evenly and gives a nice taste
6. You can add 1tsp of Jaggery or sugar and garnish with coriander leaves
7. Goes well with hot rice
