Adalaj Vav

Adalaj Vav is one of the finest monuments of Gujarat, India. The five story vav (step well) was built in 1499 A.D. by Queen Rudabai. An inscription in Sanskrit provides with the information about the date of its construction. The vav served as a resting place for hundreds of years for pilgrims and travellers. It was also constructed for religious and practical purpose for the people around.
