Japanese Cherry Blossom Season

Every year around the end of March to the beginning of May, Japan is overcome by its love for its beloved Cherry Blossoms. The season is marked with picnics and poetry sessions underneath the blooming flowers. Marking the beginning of the new year for school in Japan and the financial year, their short lived existence symbolises the fleeting nature of life and beauty. Cherry blossoms have also become immortalised in Japanese culture through haiku poems, wood block paintings, traditional music and Buddhism. If you wish to go, plan as early as possible as the season is highly popular both locally and with tourists!
