On the 7th of September this year, Andhra Pradesh unveiled an attempt at the world record for the largest laddoo ever recorded. Weighing in at 29,465 kilograms, it was made by a team of 20 people and contains 45% sugar, 23% besan, 27% ghee and 5% dry fruits. The Sri Bhaktanjaneya Suruchi Foods’ shop, run by owner P Mallikharjuna Rao, has broken the previous record of 11,115 kilograms set last year. The shop had prepared the laddoo for the idol of Lord Ganesh for the Ganapati festival in September. It cost approximately $98,000 AUD and is usually placed in the palm of the idol before being distributed in manageable portions to devotees.
