Multigrain vs Wholegrain

Buying bread at a supermarket can be quite a daunting experience. There are rows of different loaves all claiming various health benefits. Let’s find out between multi grain and wholegrain, which one is good for us. Multigrain food – As the name suggests, multigrain food consists of more than one type of grain though none may necessarily be whole grain. They do sound appealing but lack natural nutritive values as they undergo long refining process. Whole grain food – All the parts of the grain kernel are used— the bran, germ and endosperm. In contrast to multigrain, wholegrain foods hardly undergo any refining and are packed with essential nutrients. Which is healthier? For healthiest benefits choose wholegrain over multigrain. Don’t rely on misleading words like “stone grind” or “100% wheat” on multigrain labels.
