Sunflower is actually thousands of tiny flowers in itself. If you were ever to look closely at the centre of a sunflower head, you would see thousands of tiny blooms. Each sunflower head actually contains between 1000-2000 flower heads according to the University of Missouri Extension. The petals of the sunflower head are also classified as a type of “ray flower” and they do not form into seeds.
