The light of day

I dedicate this poem to my brother Shashank (Raja) for giving me inspiration in my life.

Craters upon craters
That’s all the child could see
“get up, get up” they willed themselves
They roamed through the sea of tranquility

Endless roaming followed by rest
The child could only see what was next
Above him the earth stood as his ultimate goal
Home was a faraway place, he lost sight of what was his

Night escaped into day
The light of the stars forgotten
Only to be replaced by the light of day
The gentle child resting on a mountain top

Shouldering burdens no one else can weather
Eyes only on the goal ahead
In his motives, he saw no other
In his strife, he craved not for liberation but for peace

Craters upon craters
That’s all the child could see
“get up, get up” they willed themselves
They roamed through the sea of tranquility
